How and why do creatve practitoners show their work?

All creative practitoners show their work through many means, some of which I am going to discuss.

I am going to discuss the following points:

• Theatre
• Standup comedy
• Street performance
• Art exhibitions
• Live gigs
• Cinema

Theatre

Many creative practitoners use theatre as their main place where they show their work to the audience.

For example the very popular theatre in London in the westend has many shows which are usually musical and world reknown shows which are very popular with the audience

Shows such as: The lion king, Mamma Mia, The phantom of the opera, and avenue Q are all very popular shows and I strongly believe that the theatre is very well fitted for these type of shows. and I believe that no other formats would be able to give the shows the full effect towards the audience.

Stand up comedy

Comedians have used this method of showing their work as in many cases their work is vocal and visual so therefore standing up in front of an audience is the best format for them to show their work.





Street performance



Street performers usually tend to perform their shows on the streets in order to gain public interest and also to gain some money for their shows in the streets, for example buskers who play music are the most well know street performers in the street.

Art exhibitions


Artist of course show their artwork within exhibitons / gallerys in order for people to see their creative work n display and to arouse peoples interests with in their art. For example some smaller less known artists work is displayed within smaller galeries (as seen in the photo)


Live gigs



Bands and musicians usually tend to use music venues as a place to show their musical talents to the audience. They use the venues to ensure that the audience / fans get the full experiance of the bands music and also it is all about the feeling of the band, music and venue so it is al very important for the image of the band / musician.

Cinema



There are a huge variety of different cinemas world wide, such as: home cinemas, niche cinemas (art / picturehouses) and the more mainstream cinemas such as: Vue, Cineworld, and odeon. The films which are shown at these venues are based apon the venues themselves, for example the more mainstream block buster films are shown at more mainstream cinemas whereas niche independant films are shown at the niche, picture house type cinema.
