I believe that the advantages of this set up is that:
- People will be able to comunicate ideas etc better between themselves and myself
- The work created will increase, at a more faster rate
- We will be able to get things completed faster
- It is easier for me as the director to help the group as it is smaller
- It is easier to organise people and let them know what needs doing and when etc
- No need to have a big agrement session each time an idea arrises (votes etc)
I also believe that there are some dis-advantages to this set up which are:
- The work that we had already done, now has to be re-written / re-done
- The role model / structure which I set up on monday / wednesday has now been scraped because the roles have now changed
- The comunication of ideas between the group as a whole will not occour, so ideas will be slightly limited now due to less people in each group
- Trouble will now arise between the two groups, and arguments may occour over whos idea is whos and other conflicting matters
- There is a sense of tension in the air, and also conflict between the two groups which makes it harder to concentrate on the work
- Trying to work to stricter deadlines, and the work load has increased due to not as many people in the group and also work that needs re-doing / creating
After we had been put onto the two groups we set on sorting out a new role structure and the new structure is as follows:
Tara - Marketing / Websites
Matt L - Camera Operator / Editing
Mike - Script / Casting
Dave - Chair Man / Budget / Paperwork
Ash - Marketing / websites
Sam - Sound / Editing / Lighting
Myself - Director
Tim - Camera Operator / Editing
Alie- Marketing / Websites / On set photographer
After the new role structure was sorted out we set to work on creating the marketing websites. Ash & Tara were assigned the task of creating a new blog webpage, a facebook, youtube account & twitter site. They successfully created each site for the new webseries. Orthrough our teacher did state that the names may have to be changed in order for them all to be consistant and therefore easy for viewers to source / find.
Shown below are links to each of the sites created:
Twitter - www.twitter.com/cd_films
Facebook - http://www.facebook.com/#/group.php?gid=237986014826&ref=ts
Youtube - www.youtube.com/chamberdesigns
Blogger - http://cdfilmslines.blogspot.com/
Each of these sites will be constantly updated by everyone in the group with any material that they create, in order for possible viewers to keep a track of where the web-series is going and how far the production of it is along the line.
Here are the screen shots from the FaceBook pages:

Here is a screen shot of the 'Lines' (webisode) blog:

Once we had created the websites we set to work on naming both our new production company and also the new web-series. We had a brief discussion about our production team name, and we soon sorted out the name. The name is CD-Designs (Chamber designs). We as a group decided that this would be the easiest one to choose because it is Daves production company already, and hes already got websites / material set up for his past productions so collectivly we all decided that Daves CD-designs would be great for our production company.
Another task which Mike & Tara worked on was finising off the poster for the auditions on 'Wednesday 13th January 2010'. In order for Mike to cast, for the characters for our webseries. After the posters were completed I and Dave checked through them and asked them to go around our college and put them up in order to advise the auditions.
Shown below are some photos of the posters and also Tara & Mike putting them up:
Another task which we all done collectivly was to decided on a new title /name for our web-series. After a bit of reaserch conduted by Matt, Tara, and myself, we decided as a group that a simplistic title such as the title 'skins' (channel four production). would catch peoples eyes rather than a long winded title. We reserched into short words which link to detention / school, and eventually we came up with the title 'Lines', we all decided this works well because it is what you usually have to write when in a school detetention. It also works because it is short and snappy and I believe it is this that makes it work well, because it grabs people attention straight away and makes them slightly confused as to what it is but at the same time makes them want to watch it in order to find out what it actually is.
Here is the logo / indent which Matt L created for the new web-series 'Lines'

(Or though at this moment in time it is only a rough title until the whole group is decided weather to use it as the final logo or not)
I personally think that this title works well because it reflects apon the idea of a school detention, by showing the title on a school chalk board it reflets the school / writting lines which is exactly what we want for our title.
At the end of the meeting I gave out my personal contact cards to every member in my group, because my role as director is to ensure every one knows what needs doing and when and also to make sure every one is ok with the project and if they need help then im here for them. So i issued each member of the group my contact cards and asked them if they could add my email so that they can email me any questions or any ideas for the project itself, and also so we can hold mini-online meeting through msn to discuss any plans for the weeks ahead and so on.
Shown below is a photo of my contact cards:
In tomorrows meeting with the group I will discuss what there is to complete and also what the plans are for this week, such as:
- Sort out camera before wednesday ready for the auditions for the casting
- Make sure that every one is up to date with what the websites are and how to get to them
- Organise all the paper work such as budgeting and any other paper work, (scripts etc)
- Start work on story boards before filming this thursday
- Make sure everyone in the group is happy with doing the shoot on thrusday for the 1st episode
- plus any other thoughts / plans brought up in the meeting
